Jesus told a parable of 10 bridesmaids: 5 of them foolish, and 5 of them wise. The parable only makes sense if we understand the rituals of a 1st century Jewish wedding. But once we do, then Jesus's point about "being prepared" makes perfect sense, and it challenges us that the time to use the resources God has given us is always now.
