Jeremiah was called to prophesy during the darkest days of Israel, the days leading up to the fall of Jerusalem and the people's exile in Babylon. Although Jeremiah couldn't prevent Jerusalem from collapsing, he nonetheless served as the bridge for brighter days ahead for the people. His example becomes more and more important in our own times of division.
