The Great Commission given by Jesus is the great mission statement for all of his disciples.
And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” – Matthew 28:18-20 (ESV)
Within the United Methodist Church, we also have the following mission statement:
The mission of the Church is to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world.
As a part of the Kentucky Annual Conference, we share this mission:
The Kentucky Conference Mission is to Discover, Develop and Send passionate spiritual leaders and resources to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world.
And within our local church, we have adopted this statement:
Melrose UMC exists to love, serve, inspire, and instruct people in the ways that lead to eternal life in Christ Jesus.
We are constantly looking for ways to faithfully live out our mission and we pray that you will join us.
